FAQ about the readingtonparents website How do I get on the list to receive those scandalous email reviews of school board meetings everyone talks about? Simply sign up with a valid email address. Emails are sent BCC and school board meeting reviews generally appear the same night or the following day. What is this site all about? This site is meant to be a forum for a group of concerned Readington Township, NJ parents, residents and other school district stakeholders to voice opinions about issues that affect our children and, sometimes, our pocketbooks. Readingtonparents.org advocates meaningful learning, differentiated instruction and authentic assessment. The focus of this site has included instructional policies and strategies, standardized testing, the Readington school district administration and their policies, communications and community outreach, and more. Who are you, anyway? This site is designed to be about ideas and policies, not about people and personalities. The editor is John Painter, a resident and parent. Some of the other parents and other stakeholders involved have been named in public, others prefer to remain private. Involvement is on an ad-hoc basis and the cast and crew frequently changes depending on the issue being discussed. What are you trying to accomplish? We would like to educate Readington Township school stakeholders about our district, about educational policies good and bad, and about their participation in the education of the next generations. We would also like to bring the balance of power closer to a happy medium where parents, teachers, residents and other stakeholders can have a say in the education of the children in our schools. How can I help? For starters, you can simply spread the word about this website to others in our town. Then, you can visit School Board meetings with your pointed questions, and contact our school administrators with your concerns. If you would like to contribute more in the way of ideas or time, please feel free to use the contact form. If I use the "sign up" or "contact" form, will everybody and their brother see what I wrote? The email sent by using these forms on the website goes directly to the editor of the site. If you have concerns about keeping information private, simply say so and your wishes will be respected. Email addresses collected from these forms are used only for communications related to the website. We do not even keep track of who has signed up for communications and our lax oversight in this regard assures your privacy! I sometimes see a reference to another website from yours, what is that? We are using some free "loaner" hosting space from another site. You can safely ignore that reference. Big brother is not watching you, he much too busy for that! |
